A DOG PARK WITH NO DOGS??????

Another thing I did this weekend was finally take Zoey to a dog park that is not far from where I live.  I get her all excited and we go as I open the gate Zoey runs in there and then stops.  I turn around and take a look and this is what I see....

Yup...you see....NO OTHER DOGS!!!  Are you kidding me?  It was probably around lunch time on a Saturday afternoon.  So poor Zoey is so disappointed and really didn't look like she was having any fun.  Well how could she with no  other dogs to play with.  So the gate opens and here comes another dog!  Of course Zoey gets excited and the other dog was not having it and walk away. They stayed for about 5 minutes.  So Zoey was a good sport and scopes out the place for another few minutes.

So I couldn't torture her anymore and I'm thinking maybe we should go and Zoey stops in the middle of the park and looks at me like this....

Okay this is the look that states "This blows!  It's hot there is nobody here and I want to go home!"  And that is what we did.  Hopefully the next time it won't be empty.

Well.....until next time!

CAMEO THEATERS - WEYMOUTH, MA

Sooooooo....this weekend I decided to take myself to the movies.  At first I wanted to go see Madagascar 3 or Ice Age 4.  And before you ask...no I wasn't going to bring a kid with me.  Why can't an adult go to a good funny movie without getting weird looks because they don't have a kid with them???  Anyhoo....I figure I would go to a low key theater not the fancy stadium seating, no frills, no fluff...just a good old fashioned theater with regular seats and such.

Well......I didn't know what I was getting myself into...if you are not wanting the frills and the fluff...this is the place to go!

When you go to this theater don't expect much.  Now not that this place was bad...it's just REALLY REALLY REALLY OLD!!!!!  Very small, only two screens.  You walk into the lobby and look to the right and there is the women's bathroom.  Look to the left and there is the men's bathroom.  And then in that same general area is where you can get your popcorn, drinks and candy.  AND you buy your tickets at the same register.  So it's like a one stop shop and you can go back in time (without a time machine) and enjoy a cheap movie.  $5.00 matinee and $7.00 regular hours.  So it's not like going to a dollar movie theater in Dallas...but it is cheaper and you can still go see a movie.

I love popcorn...but their popcorn is REALLY salty almost too salty! But I went to see Moonrise Kingdom...the movie was okay.....let's just say that I could have waited until it came out on DVD.  But to each his own.

Well....until next time!!!!

MY FRIEND'S PLEA TO LADY GAGA

This is a very serious blog.  A friend of mine has created a Facebook page in hopes it goes viral.  She has been fighting cervical cancer since last year and is a HUGE fan of Lady Gaga and hopes to meet her one day.  Here is a little bit about her:

My hope is that this page goes viral and somehow Lady Gaga will see it. She has been my inspiration as I fight cancer. She makes me brave and helps me to find the strength I need to keep going. I would love to be able to meet her one day and tell her in person how much she has helped me but it would make me so happy if she would see this page. I currently live in New Jersey and all of my treatment is being done at New York Presbyterian Hospital which is uptown Manhattan. My medical information can be verified, I am in no way some sicko that would make up a story like this. Below is a little more about my ongoing fight. Also, I can be found on my personal Facebook page, my name is Dee Rusnak

I am a 39 year old female that has been fighting cervical cancer since October 2011. I had major surgery, radiation and chemo treatments. February 17 2012 was my last treatment only to find out in June that my cancer has returned. When cervical cancer returns, the outlook is normally not good. I am now undergoing more torture with chemo treatments. I'll never give up but I have to face reality that these new drugs may not work. I pray they will, I'm determined to be around to see the Born This Way Ball when it comes to my area. And if I do die, I will die with my paws up. I'm a Little Monster forever!!! I love you Gaga and I truly believe you are watching over me xoxoxo

To all of my readers....even if you don't like Lady Gaga, please like her Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MyPleaToLadyGaga for support.  If you have a twitter account, tweet this link.  If you have a Facebook account, share with your friends, we are trying to get her word out there.

Her friends and family hopes that the new chemo treatments work but she is so brave to know that if they don't she doesn't know how much time she has left.  And whatever time she has left she is going to fight this cancer with her paws up!  Again...I ask you to share this link, the more this gets out there...the more of a chance that Lady Gaga will see this!

I ask you to do three things:

1.  Like her Facebook page

2.  Share the Facebook link with your friends

3.  Tweet this link to my blog to all of your friends.  Thank you in advance!

PAWS UP DEE!!!  KEEP ON FIGHTING DON'T EVER GIVE UP!!!!

Well until next time....

REAL HOMELESS PEOPLE OF BOSTON

Now before I even start this blog is NOT poking fun at homeless people at all.  But every day throughout my commute I pass by the same homeless people.  Sometimes it's sad, and sometimes it is hilarious.  So let me tell you about who I see and I have given them nicknames:

"Sober Living" Stanley

Stanley's spot is in front of the CVS with his sign that states he is living sober now and needs help.  I hope what his sign says is true.

"Swipe your debit card" Steve

I came across Dennis when I first started Weight Watchers and I was waiting for my friend outside the McDonald's.  Yes I didn't want to go in and was avoiding temptation.  Until Dennis walks up to me and asks me for money to get a sandwich and I told him I didn't have and cash on me and he replies "Well why don't you use your debit card?".  Wow really and seriously?  I just walked into the McDonald's looking for my friend at that point.

"Newspaper slinging" Nick

Every day on my way home this guy is selling a newspaper by the name of Spare Change Newspaper.  Apparently this is a local newspaper in the Boston area that was founded by several homeless people and one individual who provided the money for it.  It is stories about homeless people in the community and what they are doing to help themselves out of their situation.  Now they have multiple sponsors and are celebrating their 20th anniversary.  Amazing.  The thing about Nick is every time you walk by him he has a different slogan such as "Spare Change Newspaper! Help the homeless help themselves!"  That's his most famous one.  Sometimes he sings...sometimes he quacks (yes that is what I said) and he continues to think of new things to do or say.  And the only days I don't see him is when it is raining

"Bilingual" Benny

This is a very unique individual He holds up not one, not two but three signs and he changes them depending on the people he sees pulling up in the car.  One sign is in English, Spanish and Chinese.  I guess he is trying to cover all of his bases and being that he stands in an area that is not far from Chinatown I think that's pretty smart.

"Grunting" Gerald

I walk by this guy twice a day he stands in the same spot near South Station which is where I catch my train.  I never really thought he could talk until I saw him speaking with someone.  The one time I did drop money in his cup he just leaned over and grunted at me.  I didn't think he could speak.  He is one of the ones who is there every day even in the rain.

"I got all the men" Irene

This woman I have seen at Quincy Center many times and on the bus one day.  I overheard her conversation she was having with someone else where she was bragging about how many men takes care of her.  I don't really want to know what she does with these men but then often wonder why she is homeless.

Last but not least...

"I need Lobster" Lenny

I personally didn't come across this man but a friend of a friend did.  She happened to come across this man on Valentine's day and he told her "I would really like to have lobster for Valentine's day can you help me out?"  Then another guy piped in and said "Man...you shouldn't be asking for that you need to ask for a grilled cheese sandwich!"  Now that is just hilarious!!!  Wouldn't we all want lobster for Valentine's Day?  Ha ha ha!!!!

Before I end this blog, we must all remember we should not judge how a homeless person got into their situation.  Yes there are a lot of people who are con artists, drug addicts or just plain old lazy people.  But there are many homeless people who at one point in their lives were very successful and probably had more money than you or I.  And because of some continued bad times with no one to help them they end up in this horrible situation.  If you have ever volunteered in a soup kitchen you will come across some very educated people, war heroes and talented musicians.  And people would know this if you just took time to take 5 minutes to speak to them.  And you will learn how becoming homeless have humbled them so much and they don't blame anybody for their situation and are very thankful for the little bit of help they do get.  But hope they can recover one day and have a home to call their own.

Well until next time....

SURPRISE WAS A SUCCESS!!!!!

Rental car $69.94, snacks for the road $5.00, sitting in traffic for 2 1/2 hours $0.00, getting lost for 1 hour $0.00, the look on my mother's face when her belated mother's day gift arrived ~ PRICELESS!!!!

It was a long day and took me almost 8 hours to get here...yeah don't even get me started on that.  But I got here and my plan to take a picture of my mother's face when she opened the door did not happen because of my brother.  Of all the times he does NOT answer the door....he picks last night to open the door.  And as he is walking to the door I can hear him saying "Hmmmmm, I wonder who could be coming here at this hour???" LOL!

My mother was so surprised and very happy!!!!  Then she tells me "Well you are lucky you didn't have a surprise and I wasn't here.  I do have a life you know."  LOL  My mother cracks me up.  I told her I asked my brother to check her calendar first.  I'm smarter than that ha ha! Then I told her we were taking her out to eat and she could choose lunch or dinner but she couldn't pick the place.  She looked at me and said "What kind of sham is this????  I can't pick the place I want to eat?"  I told her nope and that she would not be disappointed.  She has been wanting to try the Outback Steakhouse.   She just needs to be happy that I'm here and blessing her with my presence!

The highlight of the road trip was when Zoey stepped on the button to roll the window down (by accident of course) and the bag that I was eating my bread out of got sucked out of the window and it still had bread on it.  I scream out "HEY!! MY BREAD!!!!! Then I look at Zoey and look on Zoey's face was HILARIOUS!!!  It was like she was thinking "WHOOOOPS!!!!"  Gotta love that dog!

Well until next time....

ZOEY GOT ME MOVING BEFORE 6:30 AM!!!!!

Soooooo I want to know where has my little angel gone? Do you see how tiny Zoey was in this picture. When I brought her home she was 8 weeks old, scared to be away from her mother and siblings for the first time, yet she got attached to me right away. Like she was okay with being with me. Zoey was a mere 4 pounds when I brought her home.....so precious and innocent.

Well......today was a different story! So lately I have been giving Zoey a little freedom and no walking her on a leash when we are in the yard. Now my yard is not fenced in where I live so I was a little skeptical about it. So the last few days I have been leaving her off the leash and she would always listen and come when I called her name. Why is it she was standing on the corner near the front yard and she was on the sidewalk and she looked at me...and I had a feeling she wanted to run down the street. She looked at me and looked down the street, I knew what would happen next. So I yelled "You stay RIGHT there!" The minute I said that.....her little bad behind took off down the street!

So I start running after her calling her name. Then I yelled "Do you want a Treat???" That usually gets her attention....well not THIS time! Now she runs up the neighbor's driveway and into their yard. I finally catch up to her and tell her to stay right where she is. Why is it she jumps down off of the stone wall (my neighbor had a raised yard) and takes off again? So I jump off of the wall and start running down the street after her.

I end up catching her when she was sniffing the grass down by the vet clinic. And she knew she was in trouble so since she had already done her business. I was so mad I just scooped her up and carried her home. She didn't like it not one bit! When we get back my neighbor was out in the driveway we share and she was cracking up. She said I was watching you run down the street what were you doing? So I tell her the story and we were cracking up.

So Zoey got me moving BEFORE 6:30 AM!!!!

I love that dog so much.....but I want my little angel back! The one who was scared to be more than 5 feet away from me!

Well until next time....
